I have a Mercedes Sprinter and 4 days to deliver a pallet of goods to Lisbon and get back to Dublin.

    What are your suggestions?

I was thinking ferry from Rosslare to Cherbourg then drive on down to Lisbon...

Or I could do Rosslare to Millford Haven then drive to Plymouth and get the ferry to Santander

The second route seems like it may be the way to go but its quite a drive from Millford Haven to Plymouth,I cant see a ferry from Millford Haven to Plymouth existing either lol

    Any suggestions?

Even if the UK-Spain link was operating I think you'd find that the route you've decided on would be the cheapest.

Do you need to deliver it yourself?
Plenty of transport companies will do it for about €200. Moveandparcel.eu, Transland etc

It would cost about 500euro with DVS Etc as its a few pallets.
The issue is that there is no one in Portugal to receive so I must be there to receive the goods. As these companies cannot be 100% certain when the goods will arrive I must make arrangements to be in portugal for up to 3 days to receive the goods so add up flights and hotels and actually driving there works out cheaper.

"I have a Mercedes Sprinter and 4 days to deliver a pallet of goods to Lisbon and get back to Dublin."

If I'm reading this correctly then you've got two days per direction, leaving Dublin on day 1 and arriving back in Dublin on day 4. I'm sure you've looked at the distances yourself, but Cherbourg to Lisbon is ~18 hours (according to Google maps) & the ferry is ~18 hours per direction. That's 36 hours from Rosslare to Lisbon, assuming you don't sleep, eat or have to go to the loo. You will have to stop to fuel up a number of times on the trip unless you have huge tanks. You also have to get from Dublin to Rosslare, so add on an extra ~2h per direction.

If you only have to get to Lisbon on day 4 then that's not too bad, but there and back in 4 days would have you wrecked at the end of the trip if you manage not to doze off and drive into a ditch.

I drove from west of Bilbao to Nantes one time and by the time I was approaching Nantes I was also approaching zombie status - nobody to talk to for 9 hours or so had an impact. I could technically have driven on to Cherbourg, but I know it would have been getting to the "falling asleep at the wheel" stage with a combination of monotony, dark, tiredness & boredom.

[edit] having said the above, I know Americans (and Australians) tend to think nothing of such drives whereas we Irish tend to think that something more than 3 hours is epic.

Ive looked at all your posts and recehecked the price of flights and a cheap Ibis hotel...looks like Il be using DSV or someother freight company and flying over and just hang around the extra day or two. The question now is who to use....Il check the freight carriers mentioned above, thanks for all the help by the way, great not to get such helpful replies.
