    Hey guys I was just looking at the rsa.ie website in relation to the 12 EDT lessons and the outcomes associated with each one. I'm wondering is it a requirement to have ;

    " done enough practice with your ADI, Sponsor, or both"

    i.e if someone is achieving all the outcomes that are required from each lesson do they still have to have a certain amount of logged practice hours with a sponser to progress onto the next lesson? I know it's certainly advised but I was just curious if there is a strict requirement there.

    Also while I'm at it I might ask this one also. I understand that you can apply for your driving test after completion of the 12 EDT lessons but not sit the test until after the 6 month waiting period. I was wondering how much latitude is there "roll forward" a test date if it inside the 6 month period?

    There's no requirement Remmy - it's more of a recommendation. The only thing you have to do is take the 12 EDT lessons - what you do in between those lessons is up to you, but obviously it would be helpful if you were insured in someones car and could practice but it's not essential. You can always complete all 12 lessons, get that out of the way and then when it suits either get insured in someones car or get your own and then keep practicing, do you test etc. - I'm making it sound v easy!!

    Not sure what you mean by 'roll forward' - I'm assuming you're wondering if you can sit your test within this 6 month period? We've had students finish their EDT's and do their test within the following 6 months for sure... HTH :)

    Thanks for answering my question! I was just unsure whether there was a strict requirement there or not, now I know.

    I should have phrased my second question properly, sorry for that. I wasn't assuming they could sit the driving test inside the 6 months. I thought even with the 12 EDT completed there was still 6 month waiting period to be allowed to sit the test? Would those people have gotten their learners permit before the 6 month limit was brought in?

    I must check that for you Remmy, not sure but I had assumed not. My husband's the driving instructor so he'll know more than me - I just run the business side of things ;)

    Hi Remmy,
    Just checked with Alan and the 6 month period is from the date of issue of your provisional licence so in other words once you've had your licence longer than 6 months you can sit your test. Hope that makes sense :)
