Will one of you please explain to me what the craic is with the foreshore licence. I know i can apply for permission to shoot on state lakes etc.. But where exactly can you shoot from? I know i can use a stationary boat. Is it a case of waders or can you shoot from the bank? And i know if there is no public access point I would need permission to cross a farmers land to get to it. But if there is public access is it ok to just stroll over with gun in hand?
Any help would be great there dose'nt seem to be alot of info on the NPWS website.

Not sure where you are based but my Foreshore Licence is for the Shannon Estuary and Lough Dearg. I understand I can shoot and walk six feet from the high water mark without permission from landowner if I have not crossed his land to get there.

Its to allow you shoot any of the lakes they have on the form and only the ones you select that they approve also ducks you apply to shoot providing they grant you to shoot the duck species mentioned. Shooting of a boat is grand but no more than 2 guns on board and not to shoot while engine is running

Basically you specify on the form the lakes you wish to shoot, what you wish to shoot and what you want to shoot it with. You can't shoot from a 'driven' boat, dunno about three guns in a boat bit, but that sounds dangerous anyway. You have access to 6 feet from the high water mark(as above). Best to get the form before you head out because Rangers have been out and about a lot this season. Basically just use common sense, know your species and follow the rules above you'll be fine.

I stated I wished to shoot cormorants on my the last time as well as duck just for the craic, guess what.. I wasn't granted permission, just came back with Duck stated on it..
