all depends on budget, but personally it would not be a boiler i would reccommend.they are at the lower end price wise and imo u get what u pay for.i would suggest spending bit more on a better boiler.just my opijnion based on my experiences and others may disagree

I have a Mynute 16e myself (came with the house) It's 7 years old it was fine for 4 but for the last 3 years I'm dragging it along. I'm changing it in the new year so refuse to spend money on it. I've flushed the heatexchanger out 3 times now because it keeps blocking and I have salvaged parts there for emergencies in case it breaks down this winter.

If your looking for something on a budget look at the Ariston CLAS Evo boiler. Very impressive, and a good price.

I personnally have no issues with the high efficiency Vokeras. I have fitted many and have only seen one issue since installing and that was fixed next day by Vokera. Condensate design issue.
Great little boiler to heat with excellent response time, decent heat exchanger and very well priced. Parts are decently priced too. Based in Ireland, so parts are readily available.
I just fitted their new range, Vokera Vision 25S. Comes with 5 year parts and labour warranty. Excellent boiler and very easy to work on. Clients cannot believe how quickly the house is upto temperature.
Every installer will have their preference and every boiler on the market will have their own little quirks, some more than others. Don't get me wrong, there are some major pieces of crap out there, but I think Vokeras is up there with many more expensive ones.

only problem i have with vokera is them stealing your customer for future service work. if you install a vokera ,the installer must submit the warrenty card within 30 days of install to validate the warrenty . before the year is up vokera will ring your customer to try get the annual service work .

That could well be a very valid installer gripe but one that should be taken up directly with Vokera. It should not be a reason to disencourage the OP from having one installed. I am sure if you spoke to their sales rep and told him you and many other installers will not promote the use of a Vokera boiler for this reason, I am sure they would change this policy.

I already did shane and it fell on deaf ears.
What's the heat exchanger like on the new range? Is it still sideways?

Good luck with that then, I know that in this climate money generated from service calls is becoming more important to manufactures as sales drop off, service and sales tends to be separate entities, so sales telling service to stop generating a profit would most likely fall on deaf ears, but I could be wrong:D

Two OAPs near me had a leak on a heat exchanger in a 35kw Mynute HE damaging the PCB, gas valve etc... it was a few months out of warranty and they could prove the gas had only been switched on a year before, long story short they received no love from Vokera and had to pay for the rfull ebuild including the heat exchanger which I think is disgraceful.

(I do manage the warranty for a another manufacture, so I could be accused of being biased:eek:, but my annoyance is genuine)

It's basically the same as the 25A. Volt free also.

I am sure we could all come up with an unfair outcome from all manufacturers. My only point is that if somebody has asked would we recommend a particular boiler, I think they were more interested in technical issues rather than how they treat installers. I have not had any issues with them but then again I live very close to their headquarters. If I was upset with them, I would hound them plus get the supplier to hound them also.
But I understand where you are coming from, you know me, I am not one to argue with anyone!

The company i worked for years ago fitted thousands of the older Vokera 14se boilers .. We had 6 full-time crews fitting them on changeovers day in day out for 4+ years there were cheaper boilers around which most crowds would have quite happily installed to scrape every last bit of profit but thankfully us installers nagged the boss so much about getting after hours calls out that he gave in and just let us use the Vokera !! Hand on heart we never had any problems with getting the new systems up and running .. They were just a total workhorse of a boiler !! The one issue we had after 7-8 years we did have to change a good few heat exchangers that was a definate weakness in them but most boilers do have a common part that will fail more often .. Dont get me wrong we fitted other good makes when the builders / clients specifically asked for them but vokera were just our prefered choice . I fitted 3 on the same road 11-12 years ago all still going strong !! Weve only fitted 25-30 of the newer HE Vokeras to date without any issues so far, mainly Ferroli He nowadays have to say id have the older vokeras anyday even if there not HE ..I find Ferroli way to sensitive but still a decent boiler !!!

Problem with Ferroli is parts cost is ridiculous, went looking for a heatexchanger for a Modena (standard combi) trade price was 497+vat....thats me finished with them for good!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36 STI V5

Yeah DGOBS i totally agree ferroli are pricey enough for parts !!! But f##k me 497+vat is shocking for a heat-exchanger even for a combi !! How much of a mark up had the suppliers got on that part , they must have been looking for one big sale to fund the christmas party beer fund !! hehe .I think i would have to pass on that call out , i dont think i could stomach informing the customer that it was going to cost that much to get there boiler up and running again . you would have to wear a mask for that one just incase that bloke from ROGUE TRADERS leapt out of the wardrobe !!! haha

If you think that's pricy ring C&F for an 18si heat exchanger:eek:

This is an old thread, but I thought I'd put this up for anyone looking up their boilers. Had a Vokera Vision 25S installed a month ago in our new house. Initially it switched off with a solid red warning light, I reset it and it went on it's way. I presumed this was a teething issue.
It worked fine for a month (it is very quick getting up to temperature) but two days ago it knocked off and won't come back on.
I had the plumber out who installed it and he said it's the PCB. Vokera are sending someone out but we've been sitting in the freezing cold for two days, electric heaters all over the place!

Hi, how did your Vokera problem work out in the end? Trying to decide on a new boiler. I'm finding very mixed reviews about them. Can you tell me who installed it?

    Vokera are a good boiler.

Finding a good installer who follows the manufactures instructions and does what he says on the tin is key to getting any kind of longevity out of any boiler.

Are you not back to pot luck so as no installer is going to tell you he does a half hearted job?

You should choose someone that comes from a recommendation. Then ask for trade certs, and other qualifications and insurance details, and references from previous work.

I'm amazed at the amount of people that don't.

Your right there johnnie, I've never been asked for anything, ever. Except insurance details the very odd time
