Network Printer via Vodafone router

    Im having some trouble setting up a network printer through my vodafone router, the printer is a HP deskjet 5150 and its connected to the router via usb. i have it enabled in the router setup. but when i try and set it up via the printer tab it just wont print anything, it just says the printer is not responding. im using a macbook pro and a mac pro running snow leopard and the macbook pro is running lion. Any ideas people or am i just missing out on something stupid?
