Am thinking of laying a water pipe from a well with a height barrier inbetween and still get a flow, and am looking for some help.:D The basic lie of the path from well is a few ups an downs then a big up and a bigger down. The run is roughly 250m , with the overall diff. in height of maybe 3m in favour of flow. The last 100m is where the main fall is. If I plumed this last 100m with a larger diameter pipe would it help much? Many thanks.:)

There's some really good well digging stuff on Youtube.

I studied a little fluid dynamics, and absolutely hated it. And nothing I learned had any application in the real world.

There's a big difference between understanding bits of theory and actually building a well. I was looking at well digging videos last year - and well blogs. Because, it's really interesting.

In the US, well digging is really common. Via, the interwebs, I believe you may get better advice from the people who do it all the time. There is more than a little art to it. You may need a pump, you may not, etc.

Probably when water charges kick in, lots of people will be practicing drilling their own wells here. There is lots of safe fresh water not too far from the surface in most places in Ireland.

Me, I just plan to stop washing, and will discard my waste, by emptying my pot out the window.
