    EDIT: did see this
Our company The Fix Events has created Mo Running (which is independent to Movember)

so maybe not officially a Movember run

Ran it last year, looked like a commercial run.Was a disaster trying to pass people on the second lap.
Poor Martin quinn got a plastic cup for winning it(was probably worth 2 euro)

How do we find out if any of this money goes towards charity?

How do we find out if any of this money goes towards charity?

Maybe by looking at the helpful event website, linked above.

    "Explaining your entry fee

It’s important for us to explain that entry fees cover all costs of putting on an event which are expensive to run.

    Your entry fee covers;

    venue hire
    chip timing
    staffing
    logistics including course management
    risk assessments
    public liability
    portaloos
    barriers
    medals
    race numbers and printing
website management and race information and updates
    administration
    health and safety requirements
    medical cover
event supplies including safety pins, water and cups
marketing and promotion of the event
And our time, expertise and commitment to create a fun and great experience for you
Our company The Fix Events has created Mo Running (which is independent to Movember) in support of them and their fundraising for Men’s Health and in particular Prostate Cancer. As a company we take on full risk, costs and responsibility for ensuring Mo Running is a success. As part of our commitment to this project we have dedicated a percentage of each entry fee to go directly to Movember.

Entry fees typically cover all expenses of putting on an event and it is very rare that these go directly to charities as costs are involved in putting on any event. With direct charity events sponsorship may cover all costs meaning entry fees can then go directly to them. However as an independant company puttting on Mo Running with full risk and responsibility and with currently no sponsorship we have cut our management fee to commit funds directly to this great cause. If in the future we get funding for Mo Running we can then dedicate more of the entry fee directly to Movember.

We hope this clarifies your entry fee and helps explain how this covers all costs of ensuring a great event for you. For more questions please email contact@mo-running.com"

That's funny, just seen a photo of Martin from a race on the Dunleer AC facebook page with a terrible moustache, was thinking it must have a dare or for charity or something! :D

I am 99.99% sure that race gives nothing to the movember charity. They may encourage you to raise money for the charity but dont give directly themselves. That was the Craic 2 years ago anyway, may have changed since.

While I do think its a commercial event on the back of movember they do state that they contribute 10% of each entry.

As our commitment to Movember and fundraising for Men’s Health we have committed 10% per entry directly to this cause!

Ran it in '10 and it was ok for a 10K in the park. Looks like its cheaper entry so not bad value.

How much is it to enter the 10K?
It says entry fee is from €16 but I suspect that is for the 5k?

The course doesn't look too bad assuming it is accurately measured (big assumption I know)....

    I didn't spot the from €16!

It was €20 if I remember right in 2010 and it was accurate course (well based off my garmin)

Passing back markers on a narrow path not ideal for a fast time.
By looking at there the money is spent tells menothing regards how much goes to charity.

Looks like its the same route as the Arc 10k run. The last 1.5k on each loop can be tough.

I was wondering the same - can anybody who has entered how much the 10k fee is?

Did anybody here do this - was wondering what the feedback was like

I did the 10 km and had no complaints - was a bit dubious about the 5 km starting about 10 min ahead of the 10 km given it's 2 loops of the same route, but it wasn't too crowded and I started at the very back of the 10 k runners. Did close to my PB which was on a flat Galway Bay, so didn't affect my time.

Nice crisp dry morning, kinda a no frill events , but all the basics covered, and medal so I was happy enough. The km markers didn't seem accurate according to the Garmin but overall nice run if you know its not the Great Ireland Run and know its a commercial event - nice bunch of runners and a dry day, I'm easily pleased :)
