I know its super early but any past or current students... Where's the cheapest place to go for accommodation? I don't mind renting a room in a house if I have to, I just want to know what I'd be paying for my own room (Ensuite would be nice!) in a student apartment or house, thanks :)

Actual campus accommodation is quite expensive and takes into account other factors also like points in the leaving cert etc, so you'd need 500 points+ to be guaranteed accommodation.. Larkfield is the 1st year accommodation and is about 4000 euro a year, and I believe you have to pay half in September up front and the other half in January. Most people tend to look into other things such as digs, house sharing etc.. there are also other student accommodation villages which look similar to campus accommodation and are all students, there are a few; Shawnowen, Gateway, Hazelwood, google them you'll gain a better insight. On campus or student accommodation villages you'd typically pay about 100 a week which covers bills, internet etc.. If you're house sharing, the rent might be cheaper but the bills are usually not included, so lets say rent is 70 a week, you'd also have to pay monthly bills which would be divided amongst everyone in the house. So life in college is not easy when it comes to money but there are grants and student support there to help.

Should be about 100 Euro per week including all your bills. Just google student accommodation and you will find a few places that are purpose built student apartments.

If you live in student accommodation (on or off-campus), it's going to be expensive. As far as I can make out, it's €4,000+ for an academic year in student accommodation.
Houses are generally cheaper, you can get them from €60+ a week, and you may not simply be charged a fixed amount for bills. I lived in Gateway last year, bills were €15 a week (taken out of my deposit) and rent was €99 a week. I was looking at a house in Glasnevin for this year which was €65 a week, and bills would be less than €15 a week too.

Thanks a mil, I lived down off Campus in UL last year, its so much more expensive in Dublin. I'll have a look in Glasnevin and that too. Cheers :D

Aye, Dublin is quite expensive! Closest areas to DCU are Ballymun, Glasnevin, Santry and Whitehall - all are walkable distance. If you are open for commuting, then you can basically live anywhere. There's usually a good few houses around St Pappin's Road, Ballymun Road, Collins Avenue, Shanowen Avenue and Shanliss Road - or around those areas :)

Perhaps daft.ie will give u some information about accommodation near dcu. But if you are looking a bedroom in a house, u might need to share bathroom with others. An ensuited bedroom might ask for 120+ per week.
