USC/Income levy and Northern Ireland medical card

    Hi Guys,

Hopefully a quick one for you. Does anyone know what the current status is on reclaiming income levy/USC paid for the years 2010-2011 for holders of a NI medical card?

Basically for those two years holders of a NI medical card were entitled to a full refund of the income levy (2010) and a 4% cap of the USC (2011) as a result of NI medical card holders being entitled to free prescriptions. This was revised effective 1st January 2012 to exclude NI medical card holders from the cap, with ebrief No 81/11 stating that “Revenue will not seek to revisethe position for the tax year 2011 in the case of USC or the tax years 2009 and 2010 in the case of income levy.”

So, beinga NI medical card holder, I want to reclaim my 2010 and 2011 payments if possible. Does anyone know if revenue not seeking to revise its position means for 1010/11 I am entitled to a refund or simply that anyone who availed of the refund during 2010/11 will not have to repay it to the revenue?

    Cheers
