I've used this guy before and a family member used him a couple of weeks ago, no problems and good service. He's a Structural Engineer and also can do valuations for mortgages.

I'll jump on that thread since it's not too old.

We are in the process of buying a house, we contacted an engineer today and got a scary quote of over 400€.

    Is that standard fee?

Do you guys could recommend somebody?

    Thanks

€400 seems crazy in these times. During the Celtic Tiger we paid €250 for an engineer. His name was Fran Hardiman but I don't have contact details for him anymore.

Was it an "official" survey for the bank?

Our bank asked for a copy of the structural survey.

It was a snag list for our new house at the time.

I used Simon Tuohy and found him great. I can't remember how much we paid but he was quite reasonable at the time.
