I just recently applied for carers benefit. Are there any other benefits that I might be eligible for. The available information does not make it clear if I can apply for household package or free travel which seems to be available to people on carers allowance. are these available in carers benefit?

Free travel is automatic, if you qualify for carers.

You should complete a separate application form for household benefits, as you may or may not qualify for this, depending on household circumstances.

A lot of people on carers allowance live in houses where household benefits is paid.

    Thanks for that, MrsByrne.

Just a thought - could the OP apply for Carers Allowance instead of Carers Benefit (allowance is obviously subject to a means test) and qualify for the free travel if she got the carers allowance?
