Hi- my daughter is in pre school for her second year. Since she went back in September she has been getting upset every morning. When I leave her teacher says she is fine after 10 mins.

She attends preschool four days per week. So I got advice about her crying and i was told to introduce a star chart. Does anyone have any experience in using these?

    All advice much appreciated!!

I think it is better to focus on one behaviour-the crying-at the moment. Reward nees to be set so it's something that will appeal to her(and it doesn't have to be something you buy, maybe a trip to the park or whatever.)Don't set the number of stars too high, maybe 20 for a start. When she gets a star ,she cannot lose it.

My daughter attends four mornings per week so on the reward chart I have a picture of fireman sam so she knows that on a Thursday she will get a magazine if there is no tears when dropping her off. I hope this system works.... I do feel so guilty when dropping her off upset

Don't feel guilty, most children are grand within 5 mins. For some kids it's a habit they get into rather than any real distress.
