is there a usb connection on the TV? If it is new there probably is and by putting a usb in it you should be able to record. What make model telly?

    Look at recording in manual

Just because you have a USB port on the side of your telly doesn't necessarily mean it will record. A lot of USB ports are only for displaying photos or playing MP3 music files.

The TV would need to have dedicated PVR (personal video recording) software on it to actually convert the TV signal into a format that can be saved on the USB memory stick.
