    Hi

I am looking for a watch for my wife

I loved this Longines but she likes square/rectangular faces like this one

Looking around online and in shops most seem to have round faces in most brands. Just wondering if anyone could recommend some other brands/models? Budget would be in the 2k region, maybe slightly more

Cartier Tank would fit the bill perfectly.
    Here are some pre-owned ones:http://www.watchfinder.co.uk/Cartier/Tank%20Francaise/Watche

I think Cartier is a perfect call for a ladies watch however personally, I wouldn't buy second hand for a present, but that's just me...

    there's a new one here http://www.iconicwatches.co.uk/cartier-tank-solo-w5200013.html

that site, which i believe to be good, although i can't vouch for it, has hundreds of ladies watches, so you might get some better ideas

Another vote for Cartier. I bought my wife a Santos last year and she loves it. Should be able to get a good used one well within budget too.

I know some people will agree with not buying pre-owned but you will get more bang for your buck if you do. Plus these are generally fully serviced and cleaned before shipping out so they are essentially like new.

...of course - there's no argument there - second hand pretty much anything will be better in the bang for buck department!!

However, if I’m buying a present, (other half especially) I want it to be brand spanking new, and shinier than a shiny thing!!

    Thanks all for your replies

That Cartier posted by Paddyh177 is lovely

She's involved in the purchasing so she'll have the say

Will also look through those Sinn watches

After a lot of surfing stumbled across this Longines which I think is gorgeous

Re pre owned watches, can people recommend bricks and mortar shops in Ireland (eg Dawson Jewelers) or online dealers?

I'm not a fan of roman numerals, especially on ladies watches with rectangular faces. They look cluttered and can nearly merge on eachother

Tell that to my wife ;)

    It's her choice :D

What did she choose in the end?

I generally like Longines - probably getting a Column Wheel Chronograph myself in the new year, but for ladies, I do prefer that Cartier so just curious

Have a google for Dunhill Facet; they can be had for a few hundred if you find a good source and feasibly even new (there was an online seller but I can't find them). I used to have one but found out in the process that I can't get on with a tank-style watch on a bracelet. Do not pay RRP!

Edit: The website is called Instant Time (www.instant-time.co.uk). I'd do a bit of due diligence as, though they seem to have one or two good references on TZ-UK, their website looks a little out of date.

Still looking! She really like the square Longines I posted but we'll see after she tries them

Hopefully will be signed & sealed for Xmas
