I have been waiting weeks now for a motor tax refund, which I am due because a car was exported to the UK.

I have Paid my household charge but I got a letter today RE: Application for Refund of Motor tax and in that letter they are looking for proof of payment of the household charge.

What does me getting a refund on my Motor tax got to do on whether I am have paid my household charge or not?
Why can't they just look it up themselves?

    Peoples views on this?

They are not capable of checking this as they have no idea of who lives where.
There is an argument for ensuring someone is tax compliant before giving them tax back however doing this 're the household charge is a bit much.
There as more serious taxes that they could be looking at first and also stuff like revenue talking to welfare to cut down on welfare fraud as they cannot seem to connect these two up at all.
