If it wasn't for the Royal Mail I think LDV would have gone under long before they actually did, majority I've seen here are ex mail vans. They're a development of the Leyland Sherpa and went through lots of hands (Morris, Leyland, Land Rover, DAF, LDV and last GAZ before going bust in 2009) They had a variety of engines inc Land Rover, Perkins, Peugeot and Ford. Outdated design that lagged way behind the Transit but rugged hence popularity with Royal Mail and Police

Good bit -Transit engine etc. Bad bits - dash by tupperware, soundproofing by bacofoil, design by a blind Doberman with a crayon strapped to its paw, durability by Lada, driving pleasure by.. it will come to me- it's sort of a cross between a tumbledryer and a tractor.

I've been trying to locate apic of the old Royal Mail Sherpa I had one time, hidious yoke, 0 to 60 took about 2hrs, plus it was noisy and smelly.
On the plus side it was very reliable.

On the "Uppish" side, roll under one and have a goo - simplicity thy name is LDV, so if you don't care about Image, comfort, speed, odd electrics and the build quality in cab of a chinese quad, they are a choice. But when you can be in a Transit for much the same money, why bother?
