No. The iPhone is always the most over-hyped piece of sh1t on the market at its price point.

You wouldn't have this problem on a rooted Android phone running a custom ROM. Just sayin'! With an iPhone, you'll always be extremely limited.

    I can tether with o2.

You could ask for your money back ad they disabled the feature on the phone.

Nor would you have the problem with a jailbroken iPhone ;)

I have an iPhone 4S and I am on Tesco Mobile which is piggybacking on O2 and I have Personal Hotspot enabled.
When I used to be on O2 I did have problems and had to jailbreak my phone to get it so I don't know if they still do that or not.

@DECEiFER: You say that iPhone is a piece of .... and that you can do a lot more with an Android phone running a custom ROM. You are right there that mostly you have to install a custom rom on Android to get rid of the junk the carriers put on it and slows it down but also if you jailbreak your iPhone then you can do pretty much whatever you want.
