I'm on 79.97.241.xxx too and can't access it either. tracert fails straight after the default gateway (79.97.240.1) which seems to indicate some kind of error somewhere in UPC's routers.

BTW, all the DNS servers (OpenDNS, Google, UPC, eircom) resolve the hostname to the same IP address so that's not the problem.

It might be best to mention this in the Talk To UPC forum ... http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1546

You could try switching your modem off and leave it off for a few hours before switching it on again. You MIGHT then get a new IP address in a different range, but it's not guaranteed, as people tend to leave their modems on permanently, especially those with the phone service.

I've turned my modem off for weeks (while on holidays) and got the same IP address when I turned it on again.

Odd, as I only just got my router and in the course of playing around with the settings, moving it, etc. it's reset itself many times, and I've noticed a few changes in IP address even though it's only been off for a few minutes tops.

    A routing issue, not a DNS issue. I'm on a 89.100.x.x IP.

Yeah it's barely working for the last three days at least (I'm also on UPC). I'm hoping it's something on their end as I'm able to access it at times but it does take an age, plus I was able to tracert it.

Tested website on both Digiweb Metro (home) and UPC (office) and no problems. Could be issue with some of the UPC modems especially if there was a firmware update of any kind.

do you have mcaffee anti virus on your machine? The reason I ask is that I could not access a website for the past few days (I could access it on my ipad but not on my pc).

I then had a brainwave, it might be my firewall, so I deleted Mcaffee and hey presto i could access the website again. I have now turned on Windows SE.

I should also point out that my Mcaffe subscription expired months ago but the blasted thing still runs on your machine, it obviously decided last week that it did not like that website and blocked my access.

Pauld could very well be right. It might be possible that your anti-virus/firewall software could be blocking the website especially after an update. But I would not exclusively blame McAfee, as I can access the website at home (different ISP though - Digiweb Metro) and my anti-virus/firewall is supplied by McAfee.

If it is an issue with your firewall it might be worth an email to the support team of whoever supplies your anti-virus/firewall protection. If other ISP's are not blocking accesss then UPC won't be either

Most of the Irish UPC goes to AS6830 which is UPC Broadband Holding B.V
AS29113 is UPC Ceska Republica, a.s

Seems that there is an internal routing issue within UPC to AS29113
Best bet is to try contact them at peering@aorta.net and let them know that there seems to be an issue from your UPC IP.

I was afraid of that, too, but a Canadian friend with the ISP Shaw over there had the same issues with warez-bb.org when I asked him to try just now. The page may load, but after some time, or it may not. Tracerts are fine to warez-bb.org whereas board4allcz.eu times out completely past UPC's gateway (my gateway is 109.255.190.1). The same Canadian friend was able to visit board4allcz.eu just fine, so if the tracet timing out past the gateway wasn't enough, there should be no doubt now that this is UPC's fault.

EDIT: Was typing this before I saw Sparky's reply. So it would seem that all the evidence points at UPC's routing to be at fault.

They're not static, they just have lease times lasting days (I heard 96 hours some time a go). Anyways, you can in Bridge mode with whatever UPC device you have, you can spoof your cable router's MAC address to get a new IP. However, I have not yet been able to change my entire IP range (109.255.x.x) no matter how drastically I spoof my router's MAC address.

EDIT: I just got on the 109.255.192.x subnet (109.255.192.1 gateway) with a spoofed MAC and still no luck with board4allcz.eu.
    warez-bb are blocked too....
Not true. See my above post. Warez-BB is obviously experiencing its own downtime issues.

Ok, there seems to be a problem routing to 46.xxx.xxx.xxx addresses. If you want to access warez-bb.org add these lines to your hosts file:
    119.42.146.34 www.warez-bb.org
    119.42.146.34 warez-bb.org

You'll be able to access the site and it's much quicker too.

Right on, it works! (and you're right, it's faster than I've ever known it by up to about 50%!)

But the problem isn't with UPC from what I can tell, do you know where the root of the problem lies?

You'll just have to annoy the sh1t out of UPC until they fix it, or wait it out. There's nothing more than can be done aside from using a proxy or finding a new ISP.

It appears warez-bb.org has had a change of server/IP and is back in action and in addition, board4allcz.eu appears now to be working.
