Spouse, Civil Partner or Cohabitant's Income Question

Do I have to fill in the Spouse, Civil Partner or Cohabitant's Income (Part 5 of UP1 Form) to claim Jobseekers Benefit? I am in a house share and still have to pay my half of the rent and bills so I don't see why my house mate's income should affect my payment. I don't think my house mate would want to give me income and other details (it's none of my business really), although she is working and not claiming social welfare or other benefits.

If they have income under a certain level you may be entitled to a dependants allowance.

If you are living with a housemate, there is no need to fill in their details for Jobseekers. Their details may be relevant for fuel allowance (as in you probably won't qualify for it, as they are working.)

If you live with a boyfriend/girlfriend, you should fill in their details. As previously mentioned, if they are on a low income or a student, you might be able to claim for them. If they are on a high income, you might not be entitled to any means tested jobseekers allowance, if they are your boyfriend/girlfriend.
