Using the wrong mains charger...?

Sorry for the lazy/noob question, but what might happen if I use the PSU from a different laptop (but with the same connection) to charge a Dell Mini 10 netbook?

    The official PSU's output = 19V 1.58A

    The other (Toshiba) PSU = 19V 3.42A

Would I get away with it for a one-off charge, or will it fry the little thing to pieces?

I know what a tracker mortgage is, I just have trouble with volts and amps... :o

When i use a charger from a 17" dell istudio on a 14" dell inspiron it doesnt charge but just keeps it on. Vice versa it gives an error saying charger is underpowered.

I'm pretty sure that once the voltage is the same, that's what matters. The higher current output on the second charger refers to what the charger is rated up to. Your laptop will only pull the current it needs so you should be OK.

The voltage & polarity are what's important (+ or - to the centre) if that's incorrect you will have a problem

The current capacity is also very important. However in this case you will be okay since the alternative charger has a higher current capacity.
