Just looking for some advice from any of the motor minded out there. I have a 07 1.4 Petrol Ford Fusion and recently I have noticed the revs seem to be off. I used to have to get to at least 100K for the revs to touch 2000 but now its touching 2000 at 80k. Also when I start its idling at 1200 when it used to idle at 750. The revs drop back to 750 when idling after driving for a bit but when putting up speed they dont seem to be correct. Had the car serviced 2 weeks ago but not sure if it was doing this before I had it serviced. Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

2000 rpm at 80kph would seem about right. 2000 rpm at 100k seems way too high gearing for a fusion.

It doesn't sound remotely like your clutch as it would be consistent to the figures you gave if it was slipping but to test it, put your car into 3rd gear and give some revs. Let out the clutch gently and see if the car stalls. If it does, your clutch is ok for the minute.

Thanks AVNs1s. Im not too motor minded myself unfortunately. Had to get a part of the clutch replaced recently. The Pin holding the pedal in place snapped and did some damage to the head of the cylinder so had to be changed. Mechaninc informed me that I was lucky no damage was done to the clutch itself. Only reason Im worried is that I never used to see the revs that high before. Im wondering did they do some tuning when they serviced it?
