Order from Komplett, the prices are pretty much the same if not cheaper (Amazon is charging £25 for delivery to Ireland, Komplett ships for free) and you get a 2 yr warranty. (The 2 TB WD Elements is currently out of stock)

You should get a 2-year warranty by European law. Im not entirely sure if that law applies to UK purchases but ive bought lots of HDDs from Amazon and when I check the warranty on the manufacturer site it is always at least 2 years.

Im not sure if a 3-year warranty is worth £20 extra. If it dies at say the 2 & 1/2 year mark, i'd imagine 4TB drives will be relatively affordable by then. You may prefer to just buy a 4TB drive at that stage rather than have spent £20 for the warranty and another €12 to send it back.

Amazon ship for free for orders over £25.

komplett ship from there warehouse to the drop point in Dublin and then to you adding 1-2 days shipping time.

Amazon have some of the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. They always replace broken items and refund without a second thought. They are pretty much perfect in term of CS.

OP that drive has a 2 year manufacturer warranty as standard. See here for info. Scroll down a bit to find the drive in the list: http://support.wdc.com/warranty/policy.asp

Not sure if this needs to be said, but just in case.

Remember that the warranty for the drive only covers the drive and not the data you store on it. That means that if you suffer a drive failure the warranty will get you a new or repaired drive but you won't be able to get your data back so keep backups!

I used to sell hard drives and I couldn't tell you the amount of times I've seen faces full of rage on explaining this to people!

Customer: 'But I was using this as a backup for some very important data.'
Me: 'Ok, but you still have the original files right?'
Customer: 'But this was my only backup! I deleted the originals.'
Me: -.- 'Ok, I think you may be having some trouble with the word 'backup'.'
