Yet more mis-information being propagated by this team's flyers.

The way it works is you pick the item you want, pay An Post and MyTV then contacts you to arrange delivery / installation.

None of the (unspecified) products / services is cheap, but my biggest issue is the mis-information in the ads telling people that "Aerial TV" will "switch off" on the "24th October". This BS is as untrue for this crowd as it it for the other hucksters pushing this inaccurate line.

This lying flyer goes on to say "If you use an aerial YOU MUST SWITCH NOW" which of course in nonsense.

The Saorview approved logo appears on the front of the flyer (delivered door-to-door by An Post) and Saorview approved appears 6 times on the flyer.

Is this reflective of An Post's desperation to earn income?

This is appalling and surely must be reported to the Dept. of Communications who are responsible for An Post!

It is wholly inappropriate that the TV licence fee collection agent should back any private company for installs as part of a leaflet drop.

An post sell any service to anyone these days. They don't have the expertise to validate the "deals". They are not run as in the days of Yore of a P&T ministry. They run themselves like a private business. Hence An Post mobile phones and acting as agent for one of the banks.

An Post isn't really "endorsing" MyTV, they are just acting as a paid agent. I think there should be better oversight of what they get up to as they are not (yet?) a private company. But our Quangos and Civil Service is pretty useless as DCENR, Comreg, BCI, Financial Regulator, Consumer Protection etc shows.

The deeper problem is Retail being able to promote non-Saorview equipment at all. Dairy gold Co-op has shelves packed high with DTT boxes but not one is 100% compatible, not one is approved.

I'm all for freedom of choice, but it seems most of the Retail industry is out to defraud and cheat the Consumer with products that the consumer can't easily understand the difference and charge almost as much as certified products.

So many UK TVs "dumped" on the market here in last few years and still today, when the consumer could have been getting near compatible or certified gear.

Consumer information and protection is sick in this country.

I think there is too much green and gold on the MyTV.ie site , not quite the same shades used on the AnPost.ie site but close enough

    Why choose Saorview Approved?

Tick Guaranteed to work with Saorview
How does this affect your rights if you buy the box that is not guaranteed to work with Saorview ?

Then again you do get more channels
    Through the Saorview Box

Choose the Saorview Box and get 9 FREE Irish channels from Saorview.
