Tips on going to New Zealand

    Hi everyone,
Have a little dilemma. I'm going over to new zealand for my friends wedding in January 2014. I'll be heading over right at the end of December 2013. I'm having a bit of hassle trying to decide how long to go over for because I'll be alone most of the time. Can anyone give me tips or advice on how to get along in New Zealand on my own. What's there to see or do? What areas should I go to/avoid? I was thinking of renting an apartment would this be the best choice? This is the first time I've gone away alone so I'm really new to it all and haven't a clue so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated

Don't rent an apartment, you'll want to travel all around the country so no point. There are organised tours you could go on.

I thought the South Island was beautiful when I was there (that was 20 years ago so I've no recent relevant knowledge on tours etc) but the whole country has areas worth checking out, we never got north of auckland which is supposed to be gorgeous.

I'd give yourself a month there.
