Anyone know the reason for the cancellation of American Airlines AA93 Dublin to Chicago today?. I have all my family scheduled to fly on the same plane on thursday and wondering if the same fate could befall them and have them left stranded in Dublin. I know AA have their issues at the moment and that this isn't the most punctual of flights.

Highly unlikely it would be the same aircraft.

As above the cancellation of the flight on the 16th would very rarely impact on the flight on the 18th. The same aircraft doesn't do the same route all the time.
As for 'leaving them stranded at Dublin' AA would have rebooked affected passengers on other carriers ex DUB or perhaps on todays flight. They may even have a 2nd flgiht today to get those passengers out of Dublin. AA will not 'strand' customers in this situation. They have a responsibility to get their customers to their destination.

And the current 'issuer' with AA affects it corporately rather than operationally.
