Saorview channels keeps replacing UK Channels

At the weekend I was visiting friends who live a few miles outside Enniskillen. They have a 5+ year old Sony 40inch LCD and now when they are watching UTV etc, the channel all of a sudden is replaced to TV3. They get picture and sound and to get UTV back, they have to scan and re-scan until the UK channels are back on but maybe an hour later, saorview takes control again.

The have one aerial and it is pointed at Brogher.

Why are the uk channels being replaced with saorview. I was surprised that their old Sony can pickup and view saorview but to have no saorview aerial installed and for them to kick out the UK channels is shocking.

i think here in the north the channels are being relayed Defiantly until the full switch over next week, if the problem is still there after next week

the best thing would be to re set the tv to factory default after next week . setting the country as UK. The Irish channel should still come in if the tv as mpg4 as it appears.

It sounds like the country setting on the TV is set to Ireland as well as auto-updating in stand by. Setting it to UK should fix the problem as well as turning auto-update off.

I will get them to check it. Another thing I forgot to mention was they have BT Vision in and they also have been replaced by Saorview.

BT Vision is an MPEG T1 box. This also needs to be manually tuned and have autoupdate turned off.

So the Saorview channels are in the EPG? It's not just the tv switching to an analogue channel?

It's digital channels. The uk channels get removed from the EPG. UTV is the main channel that always disappears and is a nightmare to get back.
