Fungus in lens

I recently bought a lens which I have used only three or max four and someone pointed out to me there is fungus in it. I have not got back to the shop yet but hope to this weekend or next week.

Can this be fixed or cleaned? I bought the lens new in July and have not used it in any bad weather like rain or damp.

Any help tips or advice would be appreciated

If you are brave and good enough, there might be a notch on the front element which can be turned either anti or clockwise

But if you say that you bought it new, the best thing is to see if you can get this cleaned by whoever you got it off from first

don't go within an inch of attempting remedial action yourself - bring it straight back to the shop; it should be covered by warranty.

and i'd be asking for a replacement; a clean is not necessarily going to fix the issue permanently.

If it was new, best to get a replacement as although fungus can be cleaned away permanently you don't want to have to do that with an under warranty lens as it just shouldn't be there in the first place if you store it correctly.

Another thing to note is that fungus can etch away at the coatings of the lens if it is acidic and this would require a new element in the lens. If the shop won't sort it under warranty give me a shout Leo and I'll see what I can do.
