Would value help here. I've a 318 d (2008) now the yellow fault icon,a bulb sign,is on the dash, indicating a fault in lighting system. Blown bulb? The indicators are flashing rapidly. I assumed that this was a sign oh a blown bulb. However all bulbs are working perfectly, apart from the rapid winking. Do I need an expensive diagnosis? I've just replaced the DSC unit. Expensive,!!

I'd probably reseat all the bulbs first, to see if one is loose or something. Not too sure what would be causing it.

You need to read out the fault number from the dash board, you can then look up on the internet and see what bulb it thinks is gone. You should be able to go in via the obc and get the CC number of the fault. Is there any LED bulbs fitted? are both side repeaters working?

Is it just when you indicate to one side? or does it happen on both?

Thanks for advice and interest. Yes all bulbs are working, both sides, but rapid blinking on both sides also. How do I go about getting codes up on dash without diagnostics? All comment welcome.

You do it via the obc.

I think you scroll through the warnings will you get the bulb warning up, then hold down the obc button.

If the bulbs are working, you could try changing them, worth a shot, but may well be a faulty lighting control module.

The rear light clusters may have two bulbs in each for parks and brakes, have you checked both? Also what about other lights that are used less often such as reverse, fogs and brake lights?
