Ask odd question when signing on today?

When I was signing on today the inspector asked a strange question. She said she had a strange question to ask everyone day

She said, do I normally work sundays?. I answered no (as obviously I don't have a job so wouldn't be working on a Sunday) and she took note of my answer and that was it.

When I walked away I thought to myself did she mean when I did work, did I normally work sundays or was it just some sort of trick question to see if I'm working and signing on at the same time. I just thought this question and weird and it's been bugging me all day.

I'm just thinking it had something to do with Sunday being counted as a working day when calculating the amount of Jobseeker's Benefit or Jobseeker's Allowance to be paid?

I signed on two weeks ago and wasn't asked (North King Street office, Dublin 1).
Never been asked anything like that.

The only thing I can think of would be that since Sunday isn't counted as a working day, that people might not need to say they work then. But that's only a guess.

Sundays are going to be counted as a working day from next year... previously, earnings on a Sunday were not counted as part of your weekly means - they will be from next year

I was asked the same question signing on on the Navan Rd this morning

It's crazy that Sunday was never considered a working day in SW. About time they copped this one.
