So I'm looking to buy a new laptop, Ive been looking at 3 in particular all pretty much the same specs in terms of gcards and processors.

The three are the MSI GE60, asus n56 and the lenovo y580. First question is out of those three which is the best if they all had the same gcard and processor. My primary use is gaming and multimedia

Secondly if i buy from a german website which offers substantially lower prices am i stuck with a german keyboard? Is there any work arounds?

And lastly if i buy a laptop with freedos, can i just throw in a windows 7 or 8 fresh install cd and boot from drive straight away?, as this is also much cheaper for me.

Care to post the exact specs and prices?

As for the German keyboard, there are 3 options, Stick with it, use keyboard stickers or buy an English replacement.

And yes, you may wipe FreeDOS and install Windows 7 instead.

Also, have a look at PCS. The Optimus IV in the following specification (no OS, 3 yr warranty) costs 880 yoyos (£710):

Wow that seems too good to be true, they are better specs than the ones i was looking at 660gtx vs 650gt and i7-3630 vs i7-3610.

Is there any catch on importing from the uk?

Would you reccomend the ssd HD £18 more than the standard 500gig one?

Absolutely no problems with PCSpecialist have had two business laptops from them. Build quality is excellent.

If you think, they're too cheap, you can add a few goodies, such as special thermal paste or a Soundblaster X-fi sound system. ;)

Not that I know of. ;)

Except maybe the 20 quid PCS is charging for delivery to Ireland.

I'd always prefer a SSD over a platter HDD, especially in a laptop, as a solid state disk also contributes greatly to the robustness (no moving parts).

The Optimus IV has a 2nd HDD bay if you want to add another HDD. No problem.

They are so much cheaper than even komplett which is probably the cheapest regional shop, thanks so much for the link

You're welcome... their configurator is quite addictive. ;)

They don't do budget laptops, but if someone is willing to spend 750 yoyos or more, I'd say, they offer good value for money.

If you're looking for reviews, check their forum.
