Warble On Newstalk Satellite

I been hearing a warble (wow & flutter type sound) on the newstalk sky(0210) for the last few months. It's most noticeable during the adverts and jingles.

FM is perfect and I got the same results on a second sky box.
    Has anyone else noticed?

Well this seems as good a place as any to jump in...

I'm getting the same thing on NTL, sounds like they're broadcasting under water or something. Also been getting intermittent heavy static over the last few days.

Yeah, getting the same thing on satellite but it varies from day to day. Some days it's unlistenable.

This is terrible atm, can barely hear. Although with John McGurk maybe that's a bit of a blessing...:p

It was unlistenable last night when Coleman was on. Mind you he is unlistenable anyways.

Absolutely fine when listening to the first hour of the lunchtime news this afternoon.

I usually listen to Newstalk Lunchtime through Sky channel 0210.

And despite the recent warble noise and interference, its still the best thing on tv at that time of day !!!

Thank you eirman I posted on the satellite forum http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056777877 but got nothing.

I also noticed for along time the secondary mikes make muffling noise on satellite.

    Thanks again JD.

Terrible again this morning: you'd think a struggling station like Newstalk for whom every listener counts would get this sorted.

I thought it was sorted but in the last few days it as bad as ever.

If you feel strongly about it try Sandra Roche

It's completely screwed on Sky now. As in, warble/vibrato is the least of our worries, it's completely broken up.

On FM, it often sounds like they are using some cheap (in therms of bandwidth & cost) codec to compress the audio. I've just noticed it on studio voices (especially noticeable on phone calls), not on ads/pre-recorded material.

On Sky, I've noticed (at varying times) the same poor compression, FM interference (no idea where the feed is taken from) that gets so bad you can't hear the station at all for a second or two, time skipping (it's like some hardware somewhere decides it's getting so far behind in encoding that it'll skip a half second every 10-20 seconds to catch up to real-time), and finally today it's just broken altogether.

NT is very bad on satellite this morning. Sounds like an FM station in the distance.

    Really unprofessional.

    Thumbs down to NT.

NT is very fuzzy on satellite today  switched over to the net.

Do they ever listen to their feeds?

    I'll mail them.

No NT on satellite at the moment. Maybe they changed freq?

    Must look around.

Their audio has been still rubbish on satellite.
