How many people do not have access to rte in the state, either by choice or cannot be received by their equipment?

I know alot of people in Donegal, mayo, Galway that just have english cards and sky box that do not currently recieve rte services, they won't erect roof aerials for various reasons, not interested enough to get them, house insurance company would apply a levy if an aerial was installed on the roof...

I think the number is far greater than 200k, my contract is up with sky next month and I'm gonna get an english subscribtion cause it works out about 20 euro cheaper a month for a full pack english card versus a full pack irish card.

It will also allow me to record itv1,2,3,4 and give me itv 1 hd, ch4 hd and ch5 hd....

If that is your priority, then a Freesat PVR has a monthly cost of €0.

Which insurance companies do this? Many of these people would have a reasonable terrestrial signal, they wouldn't need an enormous mast or array or aerials, just a modest yagi. Anyone half integrated in society would wish to watch Irish sports or news programmes.

Check your policy, I was looking for insurance in september found a new clause in many of the brokers stating that my roof was standard and had no aerials, satellite dishes etc attached.

I think you will find that is to cover those that have 10 metre high monstrosities held up with guy wires on their roof! No insurance company is going to penalise you with a small UHF aerial on your chimney, or a satellite dish on your side wall.

You have got to wonder about all these "hundreds of thousands" of people who do not watch RTE.........why do the advertising companies still give RTE millions of euro every year when no one is watching?.........beats me.
