Hi Im looking to find the best spec laptop for 300euro max. I'll buy a second hand or new.
Preferably an i3 or above and at least 4gb of ram.

Kudos for the username OP at least! :D

You might be hard pressed though to get even a second hand i3 for €300, but you might get a Core2Duo alright with 4gb ram and a 320gb hard drive.

On mobile at the minute so can't do a proper search :(

Haha thanks. I know its a tight budget but Im just looking for the best possible spec around that amount. I saw this on another thread and it looks good. You'd almost go another 20 euro for the 6 gb ram though :D

that one you linked is closer to the 400 euro mark. for the 300 euro mark there were 2 laptops in tesco there in the bargain forum. you wont really find a cheaper than 300 euro one around tbh. i hafnt seen them below it.. dunno why. you would think there would be single core, 2gb ones for 200 euro but there doesnt seem to be...
afaik pc world were selling the better of the two tesco ones for same price.
its kinda incremental as you pointed out yourself..
380 gets you an i3, 400 the extra bit of ram, 450 an i5, etc etc...
in the end pick a price and stick to it. i have an i5 lappy i picked up when the second gen had just come out so around a year ago i think and yes theyre great for doing every sort of thing, but to be honest a normal dual core processor laptop will pretty much do all the same stuff anyway.
my recommendations if you are willing to splash that bit extra..., usb3 - it will come in bigger very soon. also maybe look for longer battery life as its handy.
hdmi. some cheap models dont have it.

    goodluck :)

Just piggybacking on this thread - looking for something in the same price range here. Don't think Tesco have these laptops stocked anymore, and can't see anything in this range on the PC World site, so might be over there too. Cheapest I can see there is €389. Would be good to find a similar deal to these as missed them 1st time around.

This is about as good as it gets with a 2nd gen Core i3.

Argos is selling a 15.6" Tosh with a 1st gen Core i3 for 360 yoyos.

the step-up between first and second gen was considerable though with 2nd gen i3's being compared to first gen i5's somewhat. afaik the new 3rd gen isnt as significant though is good on power saving. every little helps ofc.. and its better have the newer tech i guess :)
