I thought this might be a good thread for us to pool our resources in relation to cheap cinema tickets, special offers etc. as a very common complaint about the cinema is that it tends to be quite expensive.

As stated in another thread the Odeon in Coolock do €5 tickets on Wednesdays. They also do €3.20 children's tickets (with a free adult one) on special kids screenings on Saturday and Sunday mornings. There are also mid morning screenings for seniors that cost €3 and include free tea/coffee before the show.

Cineworld Unlimted Card - as many movies as you can watch for €20 per month (on a year long contract). Also includes 10% off food and drink.

The IFI Membershipcosts €25 and you get:
-Free cinema ticket (off peak use)
-The chance to win a pair of tickets to one free preview screening every month*
-Double loyalty points which can be redeemed against more free tickets
-Discount on tickets (approx. 15% cheaper evening tickets)
-Monthly programme posted to your home (free of charge)
-10% discount in the IFI Film Shop
-10% discount on food at the IFI Café Bar (over €10)**
-Discounts on tickets for up to 3 accompanying friends

Anyone know of any other good ones?

I think all Odeons do the five euro deal, Stillorgan does anyway. I should point out, however, that having recently seen Killing Them Softly on one of Stillorgan's main screens that it is undoubtedly the worst designed cinema I have been to in the Dublin area. Untiered seating and poorly calibrated projections made it a very frustrating experience. I doubt I'll be going back there if at all possible. Maybe the downstairs screens are better?

+1 on stillorgan. Havn't been for years (since it was Ormonde) but they closed it a while back for "refurbishment" when it was re-branded to UCI (which didn't last long) and apparently they hadn't really changed anything. The untiered seating was the worst thing about it that I can remember.

Anyway, back on topic, IMC Dun Laoghaire (and probably the couple of other branches they have) do €4.30 tickets for students all day every Tuesday, they also have a €3.80 unemployed rate before 5pm Monday to Friday if you show a recent social welfare receipt.

Also O2 customers can get a €4 ticket to several cinemas around the country Monday to Thursday with the O2 Treats programme.

It's €5 for students and €4.50 for unemployed.

I saw some threads which discussed getting the cineworld card cheaper from the UK version of their website. Dunno if that's still the case

If you're a member of ODEONs Premiere club, you get 15% off online all week, and there's no booking fee, so it's only €4.25 for a ticket on weds.

You also get 25% off on Tuesdays, earn points on your food, drink and tickets and then get free food, drink or tickets.

There's a once off fee of either €1.99 (comes with 100 points on card) or €9.99 (comes with 1000 points (free ticket pretty much) and double points for your first month).
