No Internet from Survivor Series to 'Mania

If you took yourself away all WWE internet related access from Survivor Series to Wrestlemania, do you think it would make the run-in to 'Mania any more exciting? - something like it would have been in the Attitude era?? I know its gone PG now and the talent pool isnt what it was back then but without knowing any guest appearances, leaked possible Royal Rumble winners - even though WWE programming make it a 1/2 horse race most years or without leaked return spoilers - like Brock this year, would it make the overall Road to Wrestlemania any better/exciting for the fan nowadays??

I did always wonder what it must be like to watch a Wrestlemania, having never watched wrestling before.

I used to do that between the rumble and mania and it did help with tge excitment and not trying to second guess everything.

No internet? I'd guarantee you'd enjoy Mania more. 100%. Surprises would be, well, surprising, and you wouldn't have people crapping/picking on things you enjoyed! lol, says the mod of the pw forum....

It's an interesting thought. I think it would help the viewing in some ways but I think it could prove problematic in other ways too. For example if someone was to get written out for a wellness violation and you had no access to the net you would be wondering why it happened, and I'd say that could get quite frustrating.

I will say though this idea would have really helped that match between Brock and Goldberg at Mania XX. :)

But with no 'net connection, how would I ruin not only my, and everyone else's, enjoyment of the product with my waffling, unsolicited, undue, cynical pedantry?

I imagine it'd be a good basis for a thesis, if, in some alternate realm that consists of mostly chaos and awesome, pro-wrestling ever made up a part of a halfway-reputable Arts degree. Measuring the accessibility of online dirtsheets, or just ad-funded sites that host baseless 'rasslin rumour as its means of click-through traffic (c'mon that's where far too much of online PW chatter is sourced from), and what impact they'd had on the product: Internet & Pro-Wrestling: How they ruined each other.

I dunno, it'd be interesting in the right hands, as it's very much a subject that's not really gotten a fair crack, has it? There are some exceptions, that embrace the times, such as Chikara, and whatnot, but are, for the most part, relatively niche, compared to likes of WWE and, on a smaller, yet considerable level, TNA, organisations who go too far in their dismissal of dirtsheets as valid sources of, well, anything. These views are never related in such a manner that you get an honest sense of the impact dirtsheets have on the product, and more leave you with the impression that they're the line-towing, antiquated bullet-points of a frustrated exec/producer/talent, if they're not just lying in the first place.

I'm going to mention Eric Bishoff's name, any connection you make between the above and him, is your own, and I have no personal investment in your entirely accurate assessment of his being beyond redemption as any creative force within the world (universe, or any other measure of space) of professional wrestling.

Where as say, the likes of PWinsider, a more reputable example, who'd profess the virtues of their pulling-back-the-curtain as relatively harmless, and that any downturn in the product can solely be blamed on the content, and not the fact the tend to give away the 3rd act of a feud, or a swerve, three weeks in advance. Of course, they provide very good work, but I'm left with that niggling notion that they're somewhat equatable to commissioned reps in a mobile-phone shop, who'll only try to convince you they're not a little scuzzy in order to get back to flogging their product. Not to hammer it either, but I'm sure I'll ever be comfortable with people, who've never so much as stepped in a ring, offering self-proclaimed 'professional' analysis.

Best I can come up with is something a bit more mutually-abusive, where the product goes down somewhat, but remains consistent in the fact, yet any positives that do arise are so written-off immediately by the IWC intelligentsia due to lack of faith in the shows, which in turn leads to more negative sentiment towards whatever brand it is that's in question.

Mind, there's so many factors to consider here, that I doubt a ballooning, uninvited, incoherent wall-of-text from me, the unqualified internet-shlub #450,000,000,000, is quite gonna begin covering it.

Anyways, beyond my bollocks. Yes, I do enjoy shows a lot more if I've avoid spoilers. It's a big reason why I tend to catch PPVs and RAW more than I would Smackdown, as I tend to give in mid-week and scope to see if there's anything interesting, then having read the match-order, and then, I'll go 'sure, I'll see if my favourites won. Oh, they didn't?! Well, it never happened, it didn't occur on a live-show'. I very much doubt I could make it from SS to 'Mania, considering.

With no internet I wouldn't be able to watch any wrestling!

No spoilers, no updates, no banter, no thanks.

Same here, if Sky didn't overcharge so much I would buy the big four but as they do streaming all the way or with no internet may be 3 PPVs a year.

I dont think you wouldnt be able to catch up during each PPV. They always show the buildup to each important match, before the match

This is a very interesting idea! I think reading internet spoilers, news, gossip every day can have have quite a big effect on your enjoyment of the product.
I remember the days when I had no internet as a kid and all I saw was the wwe shows every weekend on tv. Everything was so much more suprising and I looked forward to it a lot more.
What happens is I end up constantly reading news, updates ,watching interviews etc to the point where I am completely saturated with wrestling information meaning when I watch the main tv shows themselves I am already drained of excitement.
There is no doubt cutting that out would lead to wrestling being more fun to watch but of course when you are browsing the net it is too irresistible to check these sites in case you miss something really important!
On a side note does anyone find watching wrestling from the net isn't as enjoyable as from the tv. Maybe the tv ads give it better pace/drama !

But sure, you'd miss the PW draft, which would ruin everything.

What's the PW draft? I'm guessing it's something to do with this message board we have.

I did this with Wrestlemainia 26, didn't really change my outlook! Regardless of the card/Spoilers/Rumors I get excited for Wrestlemania every year without fail! I love the IWC banter before PPV's! Only two of my mates are casual wrestling fans so the internet is my way of talking about Wrestling without having to pre-explain characters and storylines!

I have actually come to look forward to hearing different peoples' perspectives on the shows. Anyway, here's my two cents for the rest of this stormy Tuesday - farewell & goodnight.
