This has probably been asked to death but i just want to make sure its ok for my circumstances. So i'll be starting my new job at the end of the month and i have to bring along my p45 , its been 4 years since i was working as i was in school and college, i havent been on the dole either. So the p45 is out of date so all i need to do is ring the revenue, give them my new employers paye/prsi registered number and my pps number and thats it ?

That's it. Revenue then issue a certificate of tax credits to you and the employer.
