This particular story is generating quite a buzz at the moment. Some 11 wounded vets (9 men, 2 women) are in Ireland playing our best golf courses (they're playing Old Head at the moment) and enjoying some stunning Irish hospitality. I've put up a short blog about it, but Roger Schiffman, Golf Digest's Managing Editor, is accompanying the tour and has a dedicated blog that's updated daily.

There's also a piece in Golfing Weekly (not to mention several spreads on Shane Lowry's victory)

Thanks Kevin, some nice things being said about our golf and country. Hopefully they come up the north west, they'd get a warm welcome here too.

Looks like they will have to swim based on the liquid sunshine forecast for the next few days up North!

Ha! If golf was all about sunshine you wouldn't find any links up here. Thankfully that's not the case :-)

I'm still trying to get my hands on their itinerary, but they're only north of the Border for Royal County Down on the 18th, so if the rain stays up there everyone'll be happy! Except the people north of the Border presumably.

I know you dont have the itinerary Kevin but if you do could you post it. I'm playing the European on Saturday and was wondering would they be playing that day too. Would be great to talk to them in bar for a pint.

Yes, they're playing there on Saturday so you're in luck.

At Royal Portrush today, RCD tomorrow, Portmarnock on Friday, The European on Sat and Dromoland Castle on Sunday.

    Not a bad schedule, eh!

Four of us were down playing Ballybunion last Friday sat and Sunday. We saw the guys out behind us on the cashen course on the Friday. Think they played the old course on the Thursday. Have to say they got great weather down in Kerry!
