Clipless pedals life expectancy

My Shimano 105 clipless pedals are worn and have to be replaced. I have had them for just over four years and have done approx 15,000k on them. I don't mind but was just wondering, is this a reasonable life expectancy?

They can be serviced but you will need to buy a special tool to open them which can be got from CRC. A regreasing might be all that is necessary at worst replace the bearings. The flat plastic pieces are probably worn after 4 years and need to be replaced also. If all that sounds too much trouble I bought a new pair 6 months ago for about 43 euro from CRC.

Just replaced a pair after 6 months(7,000 kms). Bearings gone on the right one.

I had a set of Look deltas before and went after about 1000km. I think you get lucky with some and then get unlucky with others.
