Sky Multiroom Problem

    Hi all

Bit of a problem here. Got Multiroom installed last month. Ordered sky wireless connector which I installed today on main box. Rang sky to activate 2nd box & they said your phone line will activate ondemand on 2nd box.
Here is the problem we don't have any phone line connected to any sky box. I have UPC broadband and phone. It has 2 phone line slots which are both taken by house phones. The engineer never mentioned about the phone line. Sky tell me that the box will try to communicate once a month with Sky. If I don't have phone line I will be charged for a full subscription on the 2nd box.
The 30 days has passes since the install. It will cost me full price of engineer visit to get this sorted.
Any advice on how to get this sorted ?
    Thanks for any help

The installer would most likely have left a card so get on to him and get him back to run a phone extension lead to the boxes. If he didnt leave a card then phone Sky again and request the details.

He left a sticker on the back of the remote. I rang that number quoting the job ref. but it's past the 30 days. They told me to call sky direct and have engineer call out. I think the cost is about €100 :(.
The engineer should have informed me I need a phone line for multi room otherwise I get charged for full sub on the 2nd box.

To the best of my knowledge the engineer *must* connect the boxes to a working telephone line during installation. In certain circumstances it suits people not to have the box connected but not in your case though.

You entered a contract with Sky and private installers acting as agents and on behalf of Sky did not honour their end of the contract. You need to ring Sky and explain to them what has happened and do no be fobbed off with any suggestion that they send an engineer out at a charge of €100 for something you should have got as part of the original installation.

Stand your ground or alternatively buy an telephone extension lead yourself for less than a tenner and hook it up :)

Yeah I will do that. I will call them and explain the situation. If they don't give me any satisfaction I will have to get it done my self. As it turns out I have a spare phone slot on my router which I can connect to the sky box. I have a spare 50ft cable as well.
I would have done It my self but I'm on crutches at the moment :(
    Thanks for your reply
