    Hi Everyone,

I have a sony stereo in my Mini that wont power on. I recently got the car serviced and the mechanic checked the fuse for the radio and also confirmed that there is power being supplied to the unit.

A few weeks before it died on me a small (~100mls maybe) bit of water dripped onto the unit but i dried it as soon as i noticed. The radio seemed to work fine after this.

Any ideas? Or how much would it be to repair if i brought it to a shop.

    Thanks a mill

When you remove the front facia does the red led flash. By pressing the reset button you should hear the cd mechanism reset itself.

Tried this and dead as a dodo even after trying what i presume is the reset switch (rubber type button behind fascia).

    Cheers

Do you understand how electronics work?

If the radio is water damaged, pressing the reset buttons not going to do anything

In fairness to previous poster he is only trying to help which i appreciate, before i go and fork out on a new radio or bring it to a repair shop and get screwed over.

The young lad spilt a full pint of water over the PS3 a year or so ago and after drying it out it has functioned with no bother at all. With this in mind i thought a few mls of water might not be enough to damage the circuit board of the radio as i took a similar approach in drying it out. Another pals PS3 wasnt as lucky but a PC repair shop was able to repair it (replaced the board i think) without him having to buy a new one. Same applies to water damage on mobile phones..once acted on quickly you can avoid permanent damage.

    Cheers
