The dreaded Practical Driving Test

    Hey guys,

I'm taking my driving test on Wednesday, and I'm really nervous :(

My instructor says that I'm more than ready for the test, however, I keep getting the feeling that I'm really gonna mess up the reversing around the corner aspect of the test in particular. It's really hit and miss whether I get it done properly or not - sometimes it works, more times it goes horribly wrong! My worry is that I'll get some horrible instructor that's gonna make me nervous, hence I'll make stupid mistakes.

Anyone have any advice on the reversing around the corner, or just the test in general/how to calm my nerves?

Rescue remedy for the nerves. It's not that hard and if you fail you can always sit it again, I've messed up more tests due to nerves than I care to think about. But have passed all licences in the end and the only test I passed first time is the vehicle I've least confidence with.

I got Rescue Remedy on Saturday! Might do the trick, did you find it any good? It's probably as much a mental tool as anything I guess. Yeah I suppose I just have to hope for the best, I'm fairly confident with general driving around the town, it's just the bloody reversing. I'm always too far out from the kerb, and if I stay in, I end up hitting the kerb

I passed more tests with it than without it, it may have be a placebo or actually have some effect but it's better than worrying about it.

Just take your time on the reverse and don't think too muck about it till the time, as the more you think about it the more you'll mess it up. Concentrate on the bits you can do well and hopefully the reverse will not become an issue. Unless you completely mess it up, by doing something dangerous, then it's unlikely you'll fail for it alone.

Thanks for the advice Del2005...hopefully I'll just get lucky and it'll go alright when it actually comes to it. It's less than 24 hours away now and I'm in college so I won't get home until tonight, so I'll have to count on Lady Luck at this stage :) Thanks again for the replies :)

Op, at the end of the day, you have nothing to lose. You take your driving test pass, you have your cert. Fail you still have your learners permit. But if you go in nervous, it can get the better of you. Just try to relax, and Best of luck! :)
