At the risk of sounding a little like an automaton, find yourself a proper plan. Here are some examples of multi-marathon plans.

is planning 5-8 marathons crazy in one year or is it all about been clever on your recovery in between and been realistic about your training...?

Everyone to their own I suppose, it does seem OTT in my opinion. I'd have to ask why so many?
I admire your enthusiasm but why not run one marathon first, see how you go and then plan for next year properly. Give your body good recovery time and then decide if you want to concentrate on quality or quantity, sometimes less is more. There are also lot of other race distances to train and run that will help improve your marathon training and getting your times down.
    Good luck.

thanx for the good advice..ive registered for the clonakilty one so that will be challenged for sure.after that the next one is in april and maybe i shud tailor off in the summer and run one instead of three...my thinking is that i can run twenty miles every three weeks in training so why cant i achieve a marathon every six or eight...?..i know that extra 6.2 miles is alot but you have pacesetters and the crowd to pull u through, you dont have any of that when tiredness sets in at training...

If that's what you want to do, that's what you want to do.
You won't get any faster, but if you enjoy running marathons and want to run loads of them, why not?

A friend and I did 12 marathons in 2008 - one a month - for charity. Trick is just to take it easy between marathons and not wear yourself out. You have to run fairly conservatively in the races themselves as well. It was a great experience at the time but I wouldn't do it again. I'd rather concentrate on 1 or 2 a year and try to run them faster.

agree completely with this - did 2 marathons at full pelt within 5 weeks of each other a few years back - fairly sure I got a stress fracture (shin) out of the whole thing - couldn't run for several months after -
