City centre resignalling - a 'proper' completion date?

hi - sorry if this is covered elsewhere but is there any revised completion date for the city centre resignalling (called DASH or DASH II I think?) project with Irish Rail?

And when can we expect to see actual improvements in journey times, greater DART/commuter train frequencies and a more efficient timetable?

    Thanks.

Mabye when business in certain areas allow them to do it. Wonder if they will schedule works for Bank Hoilday weekend coming up, they didn't do it in August so if its not done in October it probaly won't be until April/May next year.

Confirmation that it's not to be done in 2 weeks time as work is to be undertaken on North Strand bridge.

The ccrp has been stopped due to financial reasons. It was to be done in 3 phases and i dont think that phase 1 was finished. The new works dept that oversaw the work has been disbanded .

Thanks Hilly Billy - so its been scrapped or 'deferred' until there a few more coins in the IR/CIE piggy bank? I image that the €36M 'hole' in CIE's accounts may have been partially behind this decision (and the objections from the Howth businesses didn't help either!).

Can they make any use of the infrastructure and signalling installed to date? It would be great if they can at least make some modest improvements in the northern line and DART journey times and frequencies.

As it stands, the current signaling arrangements can only let up to 12 movements an hour each way. The new arrangements will allow up to 20 movements, almost 100% more. It also will allow for speed increases in the city centre that should give 2-3 minutes quicker running, which on paper sounds modest but over a day it will allow for extra services from current fleet and staff rosters. It will also allow for improvements onto the Maynooth line as far as Broombridge, the Dart depot in Fairview, Docklands and the North Wall yard, Pearse and Grand Canal Dock stations and the Howth Branch. While the benefits are to improve suburban workings, they will in turn benefit mainline and outer suburban services.

If they ever get seen to, that is

Don't you mean, if they get the green light?

Isn't the Howth branch already done?

Signals were renewed on the branch but the access to and from the mainline hasn't been.

Meanwhile in Belfast, Iarnrod Éireann's poorer cousins at Northern Irish Railways are putting the finishing touches on their resignalling of the Larne line, one of the main commuter routes into Belfast.

Before the IÉ apologists appear, I would point out that our wonderful state railway - which has more resources and staff than NIR - cannot even finish resignalling the Howth branch let alone an entire commuter line. IÉ have also seemingly been working on their resignalling since Jesus was a little boy and still haven't come up with much to show for it.

As an encore, NIR are also quietly relaying the remaining jointed track between Whitehead and Larne.

Pfft, that's nothing. The amount of work needed on the approach to Belfast in particular is massive, NI Railways are operating a network quite antiquated compared to ours.

Citation needed for Hilly Bill's assertion that work has stopped on the city centre resignalling. Didn't see anything about it reported in the media and the IrishRail.ie project page doesn't say anything about a stoppage.

NTA chief executive Gerry Murphy said the capacity of Connolly Station would increase from 12 trains per hour in each direction to 20 when resignalling works were completed at Connolly in 2015

Is there any update to the completion date?
    Is it still this year?
IÉ's website gives no mention of a completion date, or contact details using modern telecommunications either

It will be next year as that's when the revised Connolly service pattern, with the 10 minute DART frequency is due to happen.

Now that we are half-way through 2016, what is the revised completion date?

    Today for the current phase.

Next and final phase (phase 4 Killester to Connolly) which is divided into two sub phases is on the long finger apparently.
