I am currently in full time education and have secured a work placement as a compulsory part of my degree it runs from approx Jan-Aug of next year. My OH claims for me and the kids as a qualified adult. The work placement will be paid at min wage and is a round trip of 100km per day. Do I have to "sign off" my OH claim for the duration or because it is compulsory work experience am I allowed to continue as a qualified adult similar to the BTEA folks who can still claim during their placement.
    Thanks

I am presuming that you are not on BTEA and that your OH is on jobseekers allowance. You do not have to sign off his claim but any earnings you have from employment will have to be declared and assessed as means against your OH claim.

You won't have to sign off but some of your earnings will be counted as means and deducted from what your OH is receiving in jobseekers. €20 of your earnings for 3 days a total of €60 will be disregarded and 60% of the balance will be counted as means and deducted from your OH's payment. It is complicated but all the rules are explained on welfare.ie or citizensinformation.ie
