Does anyone know if anybody can go in and run the track around the racecourse? Just thought it would be a safe spot to do a bit of training now that the mornings and evenings are closing in.

I'd doubt it. The race course is private property and for insurance reasons, if nothing else, i'd suspect they'd tell you to get lost. Similarly, a soccor/gaa club would do the same..

Ran it several times no problem. Last time a good while ago though

Just don't run on the grass in front of the main stands, signs direct you off the course at that point.

No dogs if sheep are grazing it.

There is no problem running around the outside of the track. I've used it a few times and there is always other runners out. Its a nice loop with a small drag back up to the stands. You can open one of the gates in the small car park nearest the road to get access

Absolutely fine to run around the track, lots of workers from the offices and factories next door do it.
    Students too from Ballybrit

Just stick to the outside of the track

If you are driving then drive to the small gate up that road in Parkmore

If you are running to get there then you can hop the wall along the N6.

TV doesn't pick up how steep that hill is!

Live close by and only ran it for the first time yesterday. Same reason as you, was checking it out for use in winter for safety. 2.4km loop on outside tarmac track, but found it a bit boring as I was on my own/no one else around. That hill is not as bad as people make out :D:D

I ran to it and used access point behind garage/slip road...(scuttermacs have a depot near there)

Not quite. The course is owned by the people of Galway, and managed by the Racecourse committee.
