My 13yr old springer died last week but have a 18 month springer who will hunt. Any tips on how to get her to retrieve a dummy? Showing no interest but will hunt cover.

Get a soft ball or dummy and spend little time in back yard throwing and encouraging to bring it back and give treat when he brings it back just few minutes every day or second day, when starts retriening then start throwing the dummy longer distance ie. out over a ditch out of sight

Buy a small dummie for starting with as said in other post throw the dummie a couple of times not too much reward with treat or praise best of luck it does work;)

Try a few different things like socks, tennis ball, glove. dog might not always want a dummy at first give em time. im into my 4th month training and its all trial and error, most of all its good to ask questions ere and from lads you know thats done it, if you can. answers ere wont be too far out.

If he showing no interest in dummy's I'd try and knock a duck on a river. So it easy for him and if he refuses it easy for you . I've seen dogs with no interested in dummy's but mad for game ,

Do not do this with snipe or woodcock , they don't taste great for a first time dog and can leave them weary of putting anything in there mouth

when throwing whatever for him do it in an enclosed area small yard or better again a path between two shed's, this will keep him focused on the ball. I started off with a ball with my own dog, i found that while it stay's moving it keep's the dog interested and as soon as he started to bring the ball back i turned to a dummy.
