There is an interesting post over in satellite section but its more appropriate here. However, the OP is probably not aware. The problem appears to be that his house is in line of sight from mullaghinish and in between there is a wind farm. Apparently the windmill arms on the wind farm turbines are playing havoc with the signal!!

Is this the case and I would have expected DTT to have enough power to overcome this?

watty where are you? and what is the work round but don't say sky or saorsat.

Post in this forum also - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=81213677

He's had the problem since he started receiving the DTT tests from Mullaghanish - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=81213677.

The wind turbine issue is known to RTÉNL - http://oireachtasdebates.oireachtas.ie/Debates%20Authoring/DebatesWebPack.nsf/committeetakes/MAJ2010071400003?opendocument

Two aerials at opposite ends of roof into a combiner with "normal" level signal might help. Or not...

Actually all Windfarm owners should ensure no-one is blocked.

Actually Wind power may be pointless except for micropower generation for those unable to connect to a national grid.

I'd say there's about 5/6 sites at least constructed to serve areas served by Wind Turbine disrpution being turned off at ASO, these all built in the last 5 years. Great investement they were

The wind farm operators are obliged to upgrade these transmitters to Digital , Saorsat does not have the full lineup of channels and is not an adequate substitute for a terrestrial transmitter.

The local authority Planning Enforcement people are responsible for ensure the wind farm operators upgrade the special 'windfarm' relays to DTT. Kilgarvan in Kerry has one I think and I suspect a windfarm operator actually paid for that RTE transmitter in Glenties commissioned recently.

Widescale disruption to TV signals is expected in Connemara next year (as quite a few new wind farms go in)....and the windfarm operators will be completely liable.
