We're looking to order a new vw from dealer soon. Anyone know if vw have history in previous years of offering promotions / deals around this time of year.

If you take something from stock and reg it this month or next month, you'll probably get a really good deal - especially if it's a MKVI Golf.

If you are ordering for Jan, I wouldn't expect a dealer to be able to price you properly for anything as the VRT increase still hasn't been confirmed.

What are you looking to order?

Are VW still only offering a pathetic 2 year warranty on their cars? You can buy a €20 toaster with a 2 year warranty these days.

3 years in UK and NI that saved me a lot on a warranty issue that VW Eire would not handle

OP is probably buying here though. 2 years these days is absolutely pathetic when so called "lessor" brands like Kia offer 7 years but if buyers are silly enough to continue buying them then they would have no reason to increase it.

But warranty cover is basically just an "insurance policy" that has an associated cost. Part of the cost of a Kia is the 7 year warranty.

It is also a vote of confidence or lack of by the manufacturer in the products they make.

I guess it depends on how much they charge/provision for the warranty cover?

You could have an extremely unreliable brand with a 5 year warranty as long as they did their sums right and the customer was happy with the pricing of the car.

I know I'm probably arguing semantics with that, but tbh the OP is looking for information on special deals available on a car they seem to have already decided on and it seems strange to wade into the thread comparing the chosen car to a toaster and knocking the warranty when it doesn't seem to relate to the OP's query at all.

I guess if the OP is interested in reliability they can see where VW falls in the reliability indices that are available and weigh that up against the length of the warranty they're being offered.

Compare a Kia to a similar VW though and it's not easy to see that the 7 year warranty is built into the price compared to the VWs two year one :)

Well let's face it, Volkswagen is one of the most unreliable brands there is, so it would cost them a small fortune if there was a three year warranty:D!

VW are offering 3 years warranty from January 2013. My parents ordered a new vw up 4 door from Park Motors for Jan delivery and got a good deal (better than Grange motors and mc Alisters in airside) they also included 3000 km free fuel and 3 years free servicing to seal the deal

Thanks for the comments so far guys. We are set on a caddy maxi which we will then have adapted for disabled passenger.
We have got a few quotes for trade in but no one has offered any sweeteners like the fuel, servicing or anything else yet.

Sure give Park Motors a go tell them you want to close the deal by the end of the week and whatever deal you got so far regarding trade in etc give them a higher trade in price offered and see if they can match it or sweeten it with servicing etc. Use another dealer as a big carrot ;-)

You need to get a deal on the conversion, from experience the cost of that is where the savings can be made.

Are you recommending the op lie? My friend, you are the reason the trade say "buyers are liars"... Negotiation doesn't have to entail lying you know:)

Op, try Dave collier in frank Keane vw. I'm in the process of getting a new passat from him, his product knowledge is excellent.

Dont let them mess you around. They are selling half as many new cars as they used to 5 years ago and every manufacturer and dealer is hurting now. You shoul dbe able to get a good price on your trade in and aim for 2000 off the list price with free servicing. Break their nuts or walk away. Very very few people are buying new.

This is just year on year http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/motors/2012/0606/1224317356552.html

Compared to 2007 the figures are down A LOT!

Interesting, as the VW website still says that it's a two year warranty. Good to hear that they're finally coming into the 21st century.

Seat are definitely getting a three year unlimited mileage warranty anyway that's for sure.

Down a lot, even more reason for them to try and make money ;)

No way I'd go through the hassle of a van conversion vrt exemption jobbie without making money on the deal. The dealer isn't exactly going to have the particular model sitting in stock, so I don't reckon anyone will be tripping over themselves to do a silly deal

Seen this advertised on a billboard today. Didnt get to see the terms but seemed like the same as this so may be an all round offer
