Seems they will make far more than they are worth feeding value ways.

My unwilted bales cost me about €15 to make. I wonder are they worth even that.

concentrates would be better value and you know what you are getting.

    Plus straw.

The simple answer to the op is too much. Every bale of straw that lands in your yard you'll be abe to feed. Get even a weeks worth of silage bales delivered and you'll have considerable waste plus you can be damn sure you won't be getting too many bales made dry in late May from grass stopped less than 8 weeks.

Sold 70 surplus round bales last week @ €25. Poor to average quality at best, cut off rented ground, down aprox 10 days before wrapped. Yer man wants it 4 horses. Will spend the money (and more) on meal. East Galway area. Happy to be rid of it.

Yeah, get what your coming at - he "sampled" 3 over past few weeks. Pays after every 20. In fairness he only lives a couple of miles away so am happy enough - will keep a close "rein" on him though!

I've maybe 60 bales of good (but not great) silage (or baleage as the yanks say) bale available - a local farmer whom I sold a piece of vintage scrap to fro €20 (plus free ploughin ticket) last year came a-callin'; he's looking for 150 bales this winter! (no access to 26 acres for 2+ years cos of motorway construction, request for underpass, then old right of way blocked, trip to court....) thought I was soft; but I'd been told he asks dozens of sellers for quotes beforehand, leaving some of them expecting deals. I wouldn't take any less than €25; haven't heard back... no panic. I'd say they'll be dearest in Munster - oxfam in Britain reporting hill farmers there cutting back on groceries (i.e. food) to buy fodder for their stock

good silage btw - got no rain - left a wedding after church to go home and bale (don't like weddings anyhow)

lol, not upfront then, sometimes the last 20 can get forgotten about.
