    What a criminally overlooked band!

Just been looking at a documentry on BBC4 just now about the group.

What a great wordsmith Chris Difford is & I'm blown away as to how good a vocalist Glen Tilbrook was in their heyday & still is!

As an '80s teen, I overlooked them. I knew some of the tunes alright, but never got into them very much.....

    No idea why.

I don't think some on this forum might think they're 'Classic Rock', but after watching that programme, I think they're a pretty cool act.

    Any Squeeze fans out there?

Huge fan here, a great band with or without Jools Holland.
Check out 'East Side Story', which includes 'Tempted', a classic with Paul Carrick singing most of the lead vocal.
If you're not familiar with their work then you've a lot to look forward to, I envy you.
    Good Luck.

I knew of Paul Carrick from Mike & the Mechanics etc.

    Excellent vocalist.

Never knew that he did a short stint with Squeeze before.

I'm sorry he didn't stay in the band for longer.
Glen Tilbrook and Paul Carrick were always two of my favourite singers, so imagine my excitement when they teamed up.

I went to see Paul Carrick a few years ago in The Academy - I think the venue was called HQ then - still a great singer with some great songs.
Check out 'How Long' by Ace.

I was a BIG Squeeze fan.
Pulling mussels from the shell, up the junction, cool for cats, take me I'm yours, another nail in my heart, the list goes on!!

Loved Squeeze when I was younger, "labelled with love" is still such a great song, as are "up the junction" and "tempted". Even "Hourglass" is ok when I've had a few and fancy a sing-song.

Some of Tilbrook's guitar solos are just superb.

"Another nail in my heart", "pulling mussels..", and "Is that love", are my personal favourites

The problem with singing along to Glenn Tilbrook is, well, he's too good.
Most of his stuff is 'pitched' really high, I end up 'singing along' an octave below. Come to think of it, that's what Chris Difford does.

Huge fan here too. Loved that BBC4 doc last week. Obviously had their differences but were so gracious and generous about each others talents. Never even realised that Paul Carrack was in the band! Wish they were coming over here on their tour, going to England to see them. Really excited.

Saw them in Navan last night. Absolutely brilliant gig.

They were brilliant - did anybody mention Jools Holland - wasn't he part of Squeeze too. I saw them years ago at Wembley supporting somebody but just can't remember who??? Or maybe it was Finsbury Park. Driving me mad trying to remember - aaaaagh - this age thing at times. I'll probably jump up at 03.00 and remember :D
